Superdrug Home Dye Review

My hair has been looking pretty dull of late as Im trying to fins a neutral color but with starting a new job i decided to bite the bullet and go back copper.

I am completely broke at the moment so I was looking for cheap and cheerful home dye. I wanted as bright a copper as I could get an the one that stood out was Superdrug Vibrance @ £3.99. Must admit I thought it was gonna be crap cause it was 'homebrand'  (how snobby am I) but I told myseld to cop on and go for it!

This hair dye didn't smell as offensive as half the other dyes I've used and even better I had no itching sensation that made me wanna rip out my hair. It was really easy to apply and any dye on my face and behind my ears came off really easily with sopay warm water and cotton wool.
Lads I'm so surprised with how well it came out, its so bright, not as bright as the box mind you but I really believe you will only get that bright if you have your hair bleach bathed.

Hair Color Before

Hair Color After

The roots came out brighter than the ends but once again I kinda expect this when there is so much color sitting on the ends.

All in all I'm a happy bunny and until the time I have some cash to go in & get a bleach bath and bright bright copper I will defo be reusing this superdrug one.

All I need now is a miracle hair growth formula :)

How do you wear your docs - Day 2

Today I've teamed up my doc's with black tights, checkered shorts, and guns n roses t-shirt! I'm also wearing a scrabble tile neck chain which i got off ebay a couple of months a go!

I threw on my old reliable denim shirt and 'leather' jacket when I braved the elements!!!

Music Therapy - Biffy Clyro - Machines

I cant believe I've been blogging for well over a month and haven't mentioned once my love for all things music.

I consider myself to pretty cool(ish) with my music taste, I'm not a rhi rhi and britney kinda gal, but I do have a few guilty pleasures (the Saturdays which me & my good friend Claire dance like idiots too after one or ten bevvys)

If I had to describe my taste in music it would be indie rock. Prob more on the rock side of that equation though. However I'm a huge fan of old school tunage too.

I flipping love bands like Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Stereophonics, Snow Patrol, The Clash, Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, The Courteeners, Miles Kane, Bloc Party, Kings of Leon, Arctic Monkeys, Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash.

I've decided I'm gonna start featuring songs of the day or week (not sure yet) and hopefully you will hear something you like & maybe you will repay the favour with some suggestions for me!!

Song 1:
If you were to ask me my favourite band of all time - Biffy Clyro - no hesitation at all... If I'm speaking to someone who doesn't know who Biffy are my jaw nearly hits the floor. However I have come to realise that most people wont know them as they aren't quiet mainstream. Well if you do know Biffy Clyro then here they are (ladies who love beards prepare your dribblers)
Ben Johnston, Simon Neil, James Johnston
I first discovered Biffy while they were supporting Bloc Party and it was love at first listen.
I am now what you can class as obsessed with them. I'm particularly in love with the fabulous bearded man that is Simon Neil! (om nom nom nom nom)

Their music has meaning to each and every song. My personal favourite 'machines' - feast your ears to this ladies and gents at high volume..

I'm so obsessed with this song I went and drew up a design for myself and got it tattooed on my side. (oh ye I'm obsessed with tattoos too but we'll speak about that another day)

months of work & thoughts went into this
Excuse the rawness but this was taken just after it was done!!!
Lyrics to Machines from the album Puzzle
Think my level of love for the band can be seen in the above photo!!! There are plans for more lyrical tattoos but I shall not devulge any secrets yet!!!

Well anywhooo I'll stop rabitting on and let y'all have a listen!! I really hope you enjoy this song as much as I do!!

Give me a second chance?? Eh NOOOOOOO

So if you have been following my search for the perfect foundation you will know that I'm not having much luck at all...

I have been using a few different ones, L'oreal True match, L'oreal Infallible Brush, Lancome Teint Miracle and Vichy Dermablend, and the only one I'm getting on great with is the Lancome.

I have in the past couple of months started using Vichy Normaderm. On reading a review on Trickling Beauty I found that Siuners was after falling out with her foundation and it was down to the Normaderm moisturiser.

So on that note I ditched the Normaderm and went back to my good old skin regime in the hope that I would see a miracle and make use of this collection of foundation!!

Sad to say nothing changed at all, I only gave it a week before I gave in, I couldnt handle it anymore. Ive not wore any foundation for the last couple of days in work as they all just frustrate me so much.

You can see how i got on each day here here and here!!!!

I'm sitting here very disheartened with foundations, the only one that is lovely is my Lancome but I'm brassic at the moment so cant afford a bottle in a lighter color at the moment....

barrel of laughs today I am!!!!
Booooo all round!!!!

I shall return with an upbeat post next time i promise!!!

Give me a second chance day 4 and 5 - L'oreal True Match

& so it continues... still using the old face washes and moisturisers that I have mentioned here in order to determine if there if Vichy Normaderm could be the reason my foundations aren't sitting right.

Day 4 - Sat: I wasn't leaving the house so didn't put any slap on, Jaysus I'm ghost like these days, a holiday would go down lovely!!!

Day 5 - I decided to use the L'oreal True Match again... If you read my review on this you will see I'm not the biggest fan, (you can check it out here) but said I'd give it one more try.

Glad i didn't go many places on Sunday cause I looked a holy show... The foundation still didn't sit well on my face, look like i had scales at one stage, everything i hate about this foundation happened.

I didn't even take pictures cause I was that morto!!! Even the BF was like 'eh throw that out'..

Frustrated much....

Give me a second chance - day 2 & 3 L'oreal Infallible Brush

So I continued to use my back to basics face regime in order to see if Vichy Normaderm is the reason I'm splitting up with all my foundations or if they really are all crap!!!!

After my disastrous day with Vichy Dermablend I couldn't face putting it on my skin and having another embaressing day in work so I used my L'oreal Infallible Brush Foundation.

This foundation as I've mentioned before isn't my most fave foundation and the color is a wee bit too dark for my skin but it stayed on a hell of a lot better than Vichy!!

It really is transfer resistant and wore off my face gradually rather than every time I touched my face!!!

I found it held a lot better on my forehead than the rest of my face though which is a bit annoying but could be down to me wearing my fringe down on both days.

Got on grand with this for the two days. But as you can probably detect I'm not jumping for joy.

I'm coming to the conclusion that perhaps it is nothing to do with the normaderm that my foundations are crap :(

Oh well lets keep going for two weeks anyway and see how we do.... Actually might just give it a week....

How do you wear your docs- Day 1

I've always loved docs, owning a purple pair when i was a wee one, back in the day when bomber jackets were on trend!!!

I was lucky enough to receive a pair of red patent docs of my gorg BF for Christmas, needless to say i hit the roof with excitement!!!

So I've decided to show y'all out there what I wear my docs with, as a few people I've spoken to don't know how to wear docs.

I think the secret for wearing docs is not to give a flying f**k!!!! If you wear your outfit with confidence you will feel fantastic!!! Who cares if everyone stares at your docs, remember they are FAB!!!

This is how I'm wearing my docs today!!!

Dress Forever 21
Tights H&M

Doc Martens -

Love the collar detail
Any other doc marten lovers out there wanna show me how you wear yours??

Avengers Assemble - movie review

Myself & the BF were lucky enough to win tickets to the European premiere of The Avengers @ Westfield London during the week.

We got to walk the same red carpet as the stars, but major note to self, do not wear flats next time as you do not blend in well with those in ball gowns!!! Oppsy!!!

This movie features some big names: Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts), Scarlett Johanson (Natasha Romanoff), Samuel L Jackson (Nick Fury), Robert Downey Jnr (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), and Cobie Smulders (Agent Maria Hill), all of which we got withing touching distance of!!!

So for any of you who don't know what The Avengers is or who they are, its basically a collection of marvel superheroes including Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor, Captain America and Hawkeye.

Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D brings together this 'collection' of superheroes to take on Loki and his army who are planning to take over planet earth!!! Loki is the brother of Thor who is wel jeal of his brother and decides to take is out on us mere mortals!!!

This film is action packed right from the get go, and while it is so cringey in some parts, you cant help but love it!!!!  Its funny, sexy and just down right amazing!!!

I'm a big fan of Marvel films and have been looking forward to this for agesssssssssssssss & I was not one bit disappointed.

I score this film 10/10 (",)

As for red carpet wear all the men looked fab suited up. Scareltt Johansson wore a fab strapless dress, with red rose flowering detail on top and black on the bottom. Fantastic killer red heels, and a simple elegant plait in her hair. The BF nearly tripped up over himself  looking at her. (",) Colbie Smulders however didn't give off the wow effect with what I can only describe as an ill fitted long train high neck red frock!!!!

Get yourselves to see the film on the 26th April and let me know what yee thought!!!

Oh ye I may have gotten slightly distracted with the Inglot and Models Own shops too :)

Creeping around London town...

So a recent trend i've been seeing quiet a lot of esp on Lily's blog is flatforms. When I first saw them on asos I wasnt too sure how I felt about them, but after seeing how they can work with an outfit I need to get my paws on a pair (or two)...

Here are a few that I have my eye on at the moment:
Image 1 of ASOS VARSITY Flatforms with Crepe Sole
asos £40/€53.52

Image 1 of ASOS VOLLEY Flatform Ballet Shoes
asos £30/€39.99

Image 1 of ASOS VERA Pointed Flatform Shoes
asos £40/€53.52
also avaliable in teal
I think these are a great alternative to wedges and are perfect for work and play!!

Following the flatform trend I need to share with you all my love of creepers... You simply can't avoid these in London, esp Camden, but why would you want to avoid these fabulous shoes. I'm hopin to get some street photos in the next few weeks of how londoners are wearing their creepers!!! Here are a few of my fave pairs!!!

These retail at about £95 so I reckon about €110...

Anyone else gonna be creeping around town this summer in their flatforms!!!

L'oreal Infallible Brush Foundation Review

This is the fourth part of my search for the 'perfect' foundation.

L'oreal Infallible Brush claims to be long lasting and non-transfer. The high precision brush makes application easy and gives a matte finish! It comes in six shades!!

I first bought this foundation before christmas looking for a cheap replacement to my loved YSL Perfect Touch. I was very impressed first time round.

Some people are sceptical about the quality of the brush you get on these foundations, but I think they shouldn't be dismissed so fast. The brush is good quality in my humble opinion and makes for very easy application.

You simply twist the bottle and foundation comes out through the brush. I then rub the foundation on the back of my hand and refer to that from application. I found (first time around) that this foundation sat well on my face, gave me enough coverage for my redness and spots, but still allowed my freckles to be seen through.

However my second purchase of this foundation hasn't left me as happy. I went for a lighter color, 125 rose, as I felt it would suit my paler skin better without washing me out. This shade however gives me a yellowy color and seems to be pretty dark still. It matches my skin better when I'm wearing my fake tan but is still by no means a great match.

Furthermore I don't find the formula as good in my second bottle, while it doesn't transfer which is a HUGE positive it somehow doesn't seem to settle 'perfectly' on my skin!!!

Overall I do quiet like this foundation, and it does provide me with quiet good coverage, it doesn't transfer on to my sticky paws!!!

Have any of y'all been using this, if so how do you find it???

Out with the new and in with the old...

For any of you out there that visit regularly you may already know that I'm on a mission to find the 'perfect foundation' and haven't been having to much luck. I've been using Vichy's normaderm for a few weeks now (yet to be reviewed) I read here that perhaps this may be the cause of my foundation problems. get to the point  I hear you scream, I'm ditching the normaderm for a while and going back to my good old cheapo skin care regime!!!

So over the past few day I've been using Clean and Clear and Simple face washes, and a Nivea day cream.

Clean and Clear Deep Action Cream Wash (oil free) - the BF had this knocking about so I'm giving it a blast! Review to follow!

Simple - Clear Skin Oil Balancing Exfoliating Wash - have been a long standing user of simple, up until I swapped for the dermablend, mammy always said that simple is the best!! Review to follow!

Nivea Visage Daily Essentials Oil Free Moisturising Day Cream - again my ma always got me Nivea moisturisers when I was a wee one so have just gotten in the habit more than anything!! Check out my review here!!!

These brands are all widely available in supermarkets, boots & superdrug!!!!

Check out how these products have been affecting my foundations daily on the blog!!

Nivea Visage Daily Essentials oil free moisturising day cream - Review

I've always been the kind of girls that is in no way snobby about my skin care regime. If it works I'll use it no matter if it costs £50 or £5. My Mam is a lover of nivea creams and think that's how I jumped on the bandwagon. My skin type for new readers is acne prone oily tzone i.e oily combination skin.

Nivea Visage Daily Essentials Oil Free Moisturising Day Cream carries and SPF of 8 in its handy 50ml bottle. It  is for oily combination skin and claims to hydrate the skin without clogging pores. it will also regulate shine for a fresh feeling face with its ingredients of natural lemongrass and rice extracts. Sounding good to all you oily skinned ladies out there so far???

I have to say I love the texture of this cream on my skin and the smell is yummy!!! It dries into the skin fast so handy for slapping on the face when running out the door to work!! I only wish the SPF was higher as spf8 would see me walking around like a beetroot, at least i wouldn't be a shiney one!!!

All in all I find this is a great oil controlling day cream. I'm not claiming to be oil free after a day at work but I'm certainly not reflecting a shine from my face!!!

Its cheap and cheerful, available at your local supermarket, Boots or Superdrug, coming in at approx £3.99 (cant find a fecking euros price sorry)

Any ladies out there loving this also???

Give me a second chance - Day 1 Vichy Dermablend

As I mentioned in yesterdays post here I'm gonna give my foundations a second chance using a different skin care regime.

So this morning I ditched the Vichy Normaderm range and went with Clean and Clear cream wash followed by Nivea moisturiser for oily combination skin. I used rimmels fix & pro primer and applied my Vichy dermablend with a duo-fibre brush. Feeling poistive and hoping i would still be fab (sniggers to myself) by lunch I left for work!!

10.30am update - 3 hours after application:
Caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror there enroute to make the coffees and was met by a lady who looks like she doesnt have a notion how to apply foundation (thats moi btw)

I'm not sure if the photo below will do it justice, but I can tell you that my face is a bloody mess already.
10.30am VILE

I'm actually morto here and want to scrub it all off but I'm also interested to see how much worse it get throughout the day...

3pm Update - 6 1/2 hours after application:
I look a holy show... Honest to god I look like somene who applied their foundation in the dark. Ye know that feeling you get of pastels (the arty kind) thats what my face feels like to touch. I have zero coverage left and its sinking right into my pores :( get me home so i can scrub scrub scrub....

3pm - the hack of me

7.30pm Update - 12 hours after application:
Think the picture says it all... My red grease ball face is on show for the world to see.... So disappointed...
7pm - greasy sae
Needless to say I'm disappointed, but I will give another few days using my old skin care regime and see if there is an improvement!!

Something Lush for the Mammy

I was heading home to the lovely Curragh of Kildare for the Easter weekend and decided to bring something back for the Ma.

After being converted to a Lush lover after a trip to the Brent Cross branch, whose staff were amazing, I decided to grab her a few wee bits she could try as I knew she had never heard of Lush let alone used any of their products.

I love lush's values which in brief are:

"ingredients only from companies that do not commission tests on animals and in testing our products on humans."

"We invent our own products and fragrances, we make them fresh by hand using little or no preservative or packaging, using only vegetarian ingredients and tell you when they were made"

So here's what I picked up for the lovely Mammy...

The smell of this yummy shower gel will have you watering at the mouth so keep a tissue at hand for the instore dribbling!!! Ma says the smell stays on your skin after the shower which is great!! It retails @ £3.15

"This is once, twice, three times a grapefruit : We freshly squeeze pink grapefruit juice, we make the peel into grapefruit water then we add grapefruit essential oil."

Happy Hippy 100ml

I was very intrigued by the whole shampoo bar concept so I decided to use Ma as a test dummy. She has short hair so decided to go for one that would give volume. This bar is made with IRISH (yahoo) moss and nori seaweed. Mammy thinks this is fecking brill, its doesn't disintegrate in your hands as we were afraid it would. She says it smells delish and another plus is she doesn't need to use conditioner with it!!
This retails @ a £5er.

"A shampoo bar with seaweed to soften and sea salt to give body."
Seanik 55g
Last but not at all least is the lip scrub. This is another yummy product. Tastes like mint choc chip, once again tissues at the ready for the drooling. Not sure how Ma felt about this one, she just said 'cool'. I'm not sure she is convinced of its effectiveness but I'm hoping she will give it a fair go. I personally think the lip scrubs are great. they retail @ £4.95.

"Clears dead skin and flakiness from lips, leaving them moisturised and smooth."

Mint Julips Lip Scrub 25g

If you haven't been to Lush before I'd def recommend a trip into one of their stores. You may think the smell is overwhelming, as I did at first, (you can smell it a mile down the road) but believe me the array of lovely beauty products will get you very excited. My BF even got facemasks and the likes tested on him the last time!!!!

Check out their website here

Is there an underlying factor in my foundation failures??

So as you may or may not know I'm currently in the market for the 'perfect' foundation. I haven't been having much luck with my l'oreal true match (see review here) and my latest Vichy Dermablend (see review here) and to be honest I was feeling a bit disheartned, when will i ever find the perfect one....

But then I read a review from the lovely Trickling Beauty about Vichy Normaderm Anti-Imperfection Hydrating Cream here. I have been using this moisturiser for a number of weeks now and after reading the review and how it affected the way Siuner's foundation, I'm thinking that maybe this is the reason I'm having foundation failure.

So here's what I'm gonna do.... I'm gonna ditch the vichy skin care for a week or so and go back to my good old mixed up facial care (simple or clean & clear face wash, nivea moisturiser). I'm gonna retry the vichy dermablend and the l'oreal tru match and see if there is any difference.

Keep your eyes peeled....

Vichy Dermablend....

Recently I've been searching for the 'perfect' foundation and Vichy Dermablend is my latest purchase.

My skin type is combination with an oily tzone. I still suffer from a bit of acne and have redness so I'm looking for something that gives me good coverage without looking caked on.

After reading about this on I was desperate to try it as the results seemed to good to be true. I purchased my 30ml bottle in a local chemist for £15, I believe its €21 at home.

The packaging and bottle aren't much to write home about but I didnt care much was just dying to slap it on the face and be transformed!!!

This leaflet gives you directions for use - apply with fingertips or small sponge working from centre of face out, blend into neck, repeat application until desired coverage is achieved. The leaflet claims results "instantly skin irregularities are perfectly concealed without leaving dermarcation lines or cakiness. The complexion is even and radiant; the skin feels supple and comfortable for 12hours"

Color: 15 Opal
I am yet again left disappointed with my latest foundation. I have worn it a few times now applying it with brushes and my fingers, with and without primer. The coverage is good but only lasts on my face for about 2 hours then with the touch of my fingers it wipes straight off, so needless to say I haven't experienced the 12 hours. I also found the color didn't suit my pale skintone too well, felt a bit orangey to be honest.

Im so disappointed. I really thought this was going to be 'the one'....

Back to the drawing board I'm afraid...

Anyone used this and found it amazing??? If so what am I doing wrong????

March Glossy Box

So after reading a few Glossy Box reviews I decided to sign up to see what the craic is. Basically you can sign up and once a month you get a box of sample products for £12.95 per month. There is also no minimum subscription which is great if you decide to opt out.
Products vary from month to month, but you do fill in a questionnaire type thing that lets you tell them what kinda thing you like.

So as this was my first glossy box I nearly wet myself with excitement when it came to the office!!! It was the March Harrods edition & this is what was inside my box when my fumbling paws managed to open it.

Versace - Vanitas Eau de Parfum
I wasn't too sure about this @ the start but the smell has grown on me and I LOVE it now. Great and handy for the handbag. Lovely fresh floral summery smell!!

RéVive - Intensite Creme Lustre SPF 30
Havent tried this one yet as I'm currently experimenting with Vichy so don't want to interupt the regime. Smells yummy tho and a nice texture. And with and SPF30 sure you couldn't go wrong.

Clairins - Extra Firming Body Cream
This has a nice thick creamy texture but I don't think I will see any firming results from such a wee bottle but still nice to slap on after the shower!

Leighton Denny - High Performance Nail Color 3 Times a Lady
I love nail varnishes more than any other beauty accessory so I was very excited to try this. As we all know pastels are in so this pinky colour is 'bang on trend'. I applied two coats ans the colour was fab, HOWEVER little bubbles appeared out of nowhere on day two of wear. Still cant figure out how air bubbles got trapped.   Bit odd but must admit I'd be reluctant to splash out on a large bottle in case the same happened.

Bliss - Blood Orange & White Pepper Body Butter

Remeber that orange medicine you used to get when you were small, well this is what it smells like. Its yummy. A wee bit overwhelming perhaps if you don't like strongly fragrant body butters. I wont be rushing out to buy however as Bliss is pretty pricey and there are a lot more affordable scented body butters out there!!!

Any of y'all get this glossy box????
